State report card
Virginia rates schools two ways. Accreditation means a school “submitted all required evidence to the Department of Education as prescribed in the Standards of Accreditation,” in the words of the state profile. The School Performance and Support Framework gives each school a score and one of four performance levels: Distinguished, Meets Expectations, Approaching Expectations and Needs Intensive Support.
- Accreditation: Fully Accredited, the state’s designation for the 2025-26 school year.
- Framework score: 83.35, performance level Meets Expectations, in the state’s division summary.
- Federal accountability: “Not Identified for Support and Improvement” for 2025-26, the profile shows.
Standards of Learning pass rates (share of tested students who passed, third and fourth grade tests):
| Subject | 2023-24 | 2024-25 | 2025-26 | Virginia, all grades, 2025-26 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| English reading | 49% | 56% | 63% | 74% |
| Math | 46% | 59% | 69% | 73% |

Attendance zone and feeder schools
Five elementary zones divide the city. Enter an address in the division’s WebQuery lookup and choose the grade (PK for preschool) to see the assigned school and bus stop. Our neighborhoods guide puts Sumner Lake, Cavalry Run and most of Downtown in the Haydon zone, with part of Point of Woods, based on the city’s 2017 school boundary map.
In addresses we checked in the division’s WebQuery lookup on Oct. 20, homes in the Haydon zone were assigned to Mayfield Intermediate for fifth and sixth grade. Every city student then attends Grace E. Metz Middle and Osbourn High.
The zone stops at the city line. Many homes with a Manassas mailing address are in Prince William County, which runs its own schools. Kindergarten registration is for children who turn 5 on or before Sept. 30, the division’s registration page says.
